The students of Class XI Commerce had an invaluable experience when they visited the Income Tax Department yesterday. They were introduced to the tax structure prevalent in our country by means of a presentation by the Deputy Commissioner. They learnt that it is not the responsibility of the government alone to improve the situation of the country but we, as citizens and tax payers, need to perform our duties to ensure that everything is in order. They were shown a PPT to establish how India has progressed in each and every aspect of life over the past decades. They were also given a lesson on different types of taxes and the process of paying taxes which includes obtaining a PAN card, paying tax, filing returns, and new aspects of tax paying. The visit was very rewarding and they could relate all they learnt with their text book knowledge. The visit winded up with a round of delicious snacks.
