The annual sports programme ‘Khel Mahakumbh’ was held from 28th Nov. 2011 to 23rd Dec. 2011. Several students from Udgam participated in it and performed excellently.

Divya Bhan of Std. X D was a member of the team that secured the second place in Under 16 Lawn Tennis. She also secured the third place in Under 16 Lawn Tennis (singles)

As part of the Traffic Week, that is, from 2nd to 7th Jan. 2012, Ahmedabad Traffic Police held an Inter-school Quiz competition named ‘Kaun Banega Traffic Star’. The preliminary round was held on 4th Jan. and the finals on 5th Jan. 2012. Udgam was represented by Shriraj Gandhi and Lohit Marodia of Std. IX. They won the second prize and were awarded a Certificate, Trophy and Rs. 3000/-

First level contest of the 10th National Cyber Olympiad was held in September 2010. The Olympiad was conducted at about 3100 centers in India and abroad.
Jaidev Nikhil Shah – 6th ‘A’ secured the 1st rank in school, 2nd Rank in City, 6th Rank in State and 98 in All India Rank .
Chintan Ashish Gandhi – 8 ‘A’ secured the 1st Rank in School, 5th Rank in city,34th Rank in state and 1084 in All India Rank.
They were awarded a trophy and certificate for their distinctive performance in this competition.

The Ahmedabad Chapter of ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) organised a Drawing competition in the school on Saturday 23rd Oct. 2010. The theme in general was conservation of energy and environment. About 750 students from class 1 to 12 participated in the event. Prizes will be declared shortly. All participants will be awarded certificates.

WORLD SPACE WEEK, 4th to 10th October is the annual global space celebration.  Udgam also celebrated the occasion.  The school arranged for observation of Jupiter through telescope on 4th, 5th and 6th of October 2010.  Students of class 9 had the opportunity of getting some basic information on Jupiter and viewing it.  On the 3rd day, students from ‘Visamo Kids’ also joined.  All the students, teachers and parents who were present had a wonderful experience.

Mental health is increasingly endorsed as a significant aspect in terms of the overall well-being of the individual.  October 10 is observed as ‘World Mental Health Day’.  On this occasion, Udgam School had invited Dr. Meenakshi Parikh, a psychologist to conduct a seminar on ‘Mental Health of Children’ for the teachers.  It was a very good interactive session.  Teachers shared their problems and the methods they used to solve them.  All felt that such seminars should be held every year.

“Udgam school celebrated Navratri with great joy and vigour.  Pre-primary Classes celebrated on October 12, 2010 and Primary and Secondary classes  on October 15, 2010  on the school grounds. Students and teachers came in traditional dresses.  All of them celebrated the days with joy and cheer.  For the secondary classes, there was an orchestra playing with Dhruvish of class as the lead singer.  It was a colorful show with teachers joining the students enthusiastically in their dance.”

Pre-primary children visited Traffic Park  and cycled through the mini roads where they came across different signals and zebra crossing and learned about  traffic rules. A short movie was also shown to them regarding the same. They learned about road safety and traffic rules through fun.”

“The fascinating and mysterious aurora borealis – On 19th October 2010, students of class 11 (Sci) visited PRL for  a lecture on “The fascinating and mysterious aurora borealis” by Prof. Jean – Pierre ST – MAURICE from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada.  He gave an in- depth knowledge of aurora, like, how it is formed , types of aurora, its different look from different places, locations, different directions, at what height it is formed and so on.
It was really both an interactive and interesting lecture. Students and teachers were enriched by the experience. “
