Story Telling Activity

To remove the phobia of stage and to improve the speaking skills, English Storytelling activity was organized for class 1 on 31^st August,2012. All the students narrated the stories heard since childhood on stage enthusiastically and with remarkable confidence along with supportive props made by them. 

Rural IT Quiz

A team  comprising of two students from class 11 were selected after preliminary round at school to take part in Rural IT  Quiz . The names of the students are as follows:

They both were among the selected teams in the written round.

Both the  students were awarded with participation certificates.

CHILD-FRIENDLY ZEBRA CROSSING

Udgam School for Children has always taken up socially responsible tasks.  In continuation with this, on Friday 17^th August 2012 a Child Friendly Crossing was painted under  the silver light of Moon and stars, outside the school gates.  The whole activity was done with joint efforts of school students, staff and workers from AMC. The school had won 1^st position for this design in the month of April 2012. The design, which was created by our students, depicted the shadow of a human being making it attractive and thus child friendly. All the students and staff carried out the process with zest and enthusiasm all felt proud and happy. The darkness of night or the continuous flow of traffic did not dampen their spirits.  The adventurous activity was carried on from 9 to 1.00 at night.  Udgam is grateful to all those parents who waited with their children till midnight and supported the school in this endeavour.

Independence Day with a Difference

To mark the celebration of freedom from Colonial rule and Independence, Soft Board decoration competition was held for class 10 among the 4 sections on the theme of Independence Day. Students had to present their ideas about Independent India on the soft boards in a creative and polished manner which they did beyond expectation.  

Class 10 D bagged the 1^st Position and the 2^nd position was taken over by Class 10 A.  The efforts were put in by Aayushi  Shah, Shimolee Shah, Priyangi Shah, Havisha Bhomia, Sahil Fadia, Karan Bhansali and Raivat Joshi of class 10 D.  From class 10 A hard work was done by Jay Damani, Jeet Adani, Rohan Dalal, Shanay Kharidia, Aashka Shah, Heena Patel, Jhanvi Patel and Saloni Jhaveri.

Congratulations to all. 

An abacus-making was conduted for all the sections of class II on 7^th August 2012.The students made colourful abacus from empty toothpaste boxes and straws.They used beads to represent numbers.The activity was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.

Students from Udgam School for Children took part in 7 competitive  events of Zyfest organized by Zydus School for Excellence on 27^th and 28^th July, 2012. Following is the list of students:

Participation certificate was received by all. In event Ad Mad  our team bagged special prize for ‘Best Jingle’.The team of Shreeja Desai and Jaidev Shah  made it to 1^st position in Debate among 22 schools and 44 participants present. They were felicitated  with a shield and certificates.

Udgam sincerely follows ‘Waste Management’.  A lot of craft work is done using waste material.  Prior to the festival of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ students of class  2 and 3 were taught to make ‘Rakhis’ out of waste material brought from their homes.  The result was wonderful.  Under the able guidance of their teachers, they made beautiful ‘Rakhis’ putting all their creativity to use.  The whole exercise was a joyous experience for  the students as well as the teachers.

Poems Out Loud

An Inter-School Poetry Recitation competition was organized by JG International School on 26^th July, 2012.

Following students from our school participated in the same.

SUJANI PARIKH of class 5 was awarded with a trophy and certificate for ‘The Best Vocal Quality’ . All the students bagged participation certificates.

Derek’s Challenge

Derek O’Brien’s Team conducted a quiz titled ‘Derek’s Challenge’ in the school premises on 23^rd, July 2012 at 8:00a.m. There were in all 16 students spread over 4 teams. Each team consisted of a student of class 6, 7, 8, 9/10 respectively. The whole event was well conducted and organized with all the 4 teams answering enthusiastically and logically. Even the audiences were no less. All correct and prompt answers came from audiences.  All the students got to learn something or other from this event.

The whole event was wonderful and all enjoyed it.

The names of the participants  team wise are as follows:

TEAM B surfaced  as the winners  after the long tie breaker round with Team A. 

A Science exhibition was organized by class 10 students on Saturday  14^th July 2012.   Students made projects on various topics like magnetism ,electricity , tropism , sources  of energy , life processes. Some projects were working models and some were static models. Students enthusiastically explained  the concept and the working of their model with confidence and thoroughness. They also answered the questions put to them by the students and parents. The Exhibition was well  attended by parents and teachers and was appreciated by one and all.
