Visit to Old Age Home

Visit to Old Age Home

‘Respecting and caring for our Elders’ is one of the moral values which is inculcated in the students at  USFC.  In the light of  the same, a few students of class 9 and10 accompanied by teachers, visited Old Age Home under the umbrella banner of ‘Joy of Giving Week’.

The inmates, though old and feeble, gave our children a warm welcome.  To break the monotony of their lives the students presented different programmes, an instrumental piece and bhajans, for them.  These were whole -heartedly enjoyed and appreciated by them. It was a feast to the eyes and hearts to watch their response – some were clapping, some were dancing while  some were simply sitting and watching with misty eyes, perhaps remembering their bygone days or maybe  remembering their own children or grandchildren. Our students gave the elderly people a few moments of joy but came back with a life-time experience.

Students gift to Teachers

Students gift to Teachers

Teachers Day was celebrated in a unique way at USFC. Instead of usual concept of senior students becoming teachers and going to junior classes, this year we gave chance to students of same class to become teachers. Apart from this, the students were involved in many activities like balloon decoration, pot making, flower making, recitation, speech, solving puzzles. Children enthusiastically prepared and sang songs on “Guru”, danced, played guitar for their beloved teachers to make them feel special and show their deep respect.

TEACHERS DAY 2012

TEACHERS DAY 2012

This year TEACHERS DAY was celebrated in a different way at Udgam.  Teachers put up, what may be called, a colourful and joyful ‘Annual Function’.  A cultural programme was organized to showcase the talents of teachers.  There was a variety of items ranging from instrumental music, singing, dance, skit and group discussion.

The programme started with the melodious strains of sitar produced by the music teacher, Gopi Shah, followed by a variety of dances.

The Pre-Primary teachers performed the traditional dances of Gujarat.  The Primary teachers brought the dance of Kerala alive on stage, reminding one of the recently concluded festival of Onam and another of Rajasthan.

The secondary teachers displayed the different colours of India.  Dances of Punjab, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bengal, Kerala and Gujarat were performed by them.  All merged into the finale of Gujarati Garba.

Secondary teachers of English, Hindi and Sanskrit discussed the role of teachers in shaping the future generation, giving the audience much to think about.

A skit performed by the Middle School teachers highlighted the difficult but rewarding job of teachers.

The whole programme was wonderfully organized.  Looking at the teachers perform with so much zest and joy one forgot for a moment that they are teachers not students.  Neither age nor the sultry weather hampered their spirits.  They enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

One could say of every teacher what Shakespeare wrote of Cleopatra:

Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale Her infinite variety.
