School Values and Etiquettes

No matter who you are or what you do, your manners will have a direct impact on your professional and social success’.

To implement school etiquettes and values, a special assembly was conducted at Udgam School for Children for class X. In our Life skills and Value education sessions we always impart moral and value base education to our students. We aim for the holistic development of our children.

The assembly was conducted in a unique manner, highlighting the need to inculcate right behaviour at school and inside the classrooms. Students exhibited their learnings in form of a live demonstration for a better understanding. We touched areas specifying the right conduct of students in assembly area, at staffroom, inside the classrooms and while passing through corridors.  ‘Bullying’ in class was another sensitive topic that was explored.

Adding emphasis on the value of ‘Planning’ and ‘Prioritising’, 40-mins Chart making activity based on time management was conducted in groups in their Life skills class where they were conditioned to complete the activity within a stipulated time period, and were ranked on the basis of timely submission and team work.

It is important to remember that ethics and time management are significant skills which once mastered will make us more organised, efficient and happier.

UDGAM SCHOOL TO BE A BULLY-FREE ZONE

“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those watch then without doing anything.”

The moment we start avoiding the individual differences of our children, we start encouraging ‘Bullying’ in larger proportions. Each child is different with his flaws and strength. It’s very important for educators and parents to make them realise how important it is to respect each other, irrespective of all variations.

According to IMRB, a top marketing research company of India, every third child is bullied in school. It is embarrassing and humiliating for a child who is being bullied, which can demoralize him/her. At Udgam School, we took a strong stand today, to make our school, a Bully – Free Zone! After analysing all the repercussions of Bullying, we pledge to provide every kind of support and facility to all our students. A bully needs special attention and care too, which if addressed on time can eliminate the long term negative results. A strong message was delivered that Bullying should never be tolerated. Students must take a strong stand to help each other in curtailing bullying situations. We Udgamites took a Vow that our hands will never hit a person and so will our words. We will use them in helping each other!

FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

With changing times fathers are also displaying their emotions towards their children more than ever before and the emotional connect is certainly more pronounced. While celebrating Father’s Day what better way than spending a ‘father-child’ day surrounded by Nature?! Udgam Pro Activity Club had organised a unique outdoor session “Explore the Environment” on this Father’s day for father and child of Class V. We organised a program at Serenity Library and Botanical Garden, situated near Koteshwar village. Spread over 40,000 sq. mtrs., the nature park has a lot to offer in terms of variety and greenery. An eminentNaturalist, Mr. Haseeb Shaikh, shared his impressive knowledge with us throughout the session. He took us to the butterfly patch, botanical garden, organic farm and pond area. There were many kinds of indigenous and exotic plants. We understood and appreciated the benefit of each plant to our environment. While walking we came across a wide variety of species of birds and creatures. Students were eagerly writing down all valuable information to share the knowledge with their friends and family. We educated around 100 children and fathers about the rich natural heritage and created awareness in what can be done as an individual to save our environment. Overall it was a unique effort to bond among nature and a perfect Father’s Day!

Stress Factor

Stress resonates in the society as a ‘devil’ which is encapsulating everybody. Stress is often interchangeably used for anxiety and excitement. Exploring the positive side of stress, we addressed our students today at Udgam School during Morning Assembly. Our aim is to twist the mind set of our young minds and utilize stress for their benefit. Mrs. Neha Dhyani with the help of a Presentation helped students understand this easy fact that our body prepares us for many reactions and we confuse it with ‘Stress’. She took some confessions of Dr. Kelly McGonicall which made the entire topic clear and meaningful. Students were asked to stay focussed and push themselves from Stress zone to Eustress Zone which helps them gather courage and makes them resilient. We should make stress our Friend and help others to come out of it naturally!
Mrs. Neha Manghani continued with the assembly and spoke on the new Class-Pass system that has been initiated in the classes. This will help to create more disciplined environment at school.
Students of grade ninth also spoke about their experience at the Times of India workshop attended by them. They motivated their colleagues to write more articles for NIE and showcase their hidden talents.
Assembly was concluded with the valuable words delivered by Principal Mrs. Sujata Tandon, who spoke about the changes to be adopted patiently and behaving wisely at school. Students were advised to be more focused towards their studies, due to the change in exam-pattern. To cope up with the change they were instructed to do the regular revisions.

ORIENTATION SESSION OF CLASS 1

When little ones of Preschool leave their familiar surroundings and enter the main school, they are a bit puzzled, albeit excited, about the new premises.

It is a transition that needs to be handled in the best possible manner at home and in school.

With longer hours, more formal set up and bigger children around, the little ones may take a little while to settle down. But soon they become accustomed to the new set up and begin enjoying school once again.

To make the transition phase easy for the children from Preschool to Primary Section, an Orientation Programme was organised today in two sessions.

Information on various aspects of ‘Big’ school was discussed by the heads and teachers. The many queries of the parents were answered and minds were set to rest.

The session was followed by a school round.
